How do we tackle situations where multiple criteria have to be met? It can be difficult finding a balance between them, and reaching a perfect solution is often impossible, especially when faced with thousands of possible variations. We need to choose the right focus points and use the tools made specifically or those cases. Multi-Objective optimisation can be done efficiently with evolutionary genetic algorithms, made available for Grasshopper with the Wallacei plugin – which is a focus of the workshop.
The workshop will be led by Jan Zawadzki who graduated from the Bachelor of Architecture program at WAPW in 2022, while during his studies he was a part of the WRS (student council) and led KNAI (Information Architecture Research Group) for two years, being fascinated by what can be done with technology in architecture and design. In the meantime, he worked part-time at XYstudio and WXCA office. After bachelors, he went to Copenhagen for one year to work as a Computational Design Assistant in the Sustainability team at Bjarke Ingels Group, which shaped his focus on responsible and climate-neutral architecture. Then he started his Master of Architecture studies at TU Delft, where he currently studies and works as a research assistant.
