The lecture will showcase innovative projects focused on adaptivity in architecture. Attendees will learn about the integration of kinetic structures, modular systems, self-assembly as well as natural materials to create systems that can adapt to changing environments. The lecture highlights the importance of sustainability through adaptivity in architecture, with a focus on the use of cutting-edge technologies and materials such as soft robotics or biocomposites.
Jan Petrš is an architect, computational designer, and researcher. He obtained his master’s and doctorate degree at Faculty of Architecture at Czech Technical University in Prague. Since 2018 he has been a research associate at ITKE (Institute of Building Structures and Structural Design) and BioMat Department (Biobased Materials and Materials Cycles in Architecture) at the University of Stuttgart. His research focuses on self-assembly systems, soft robotics, and biocomposites. In 2010 he co-founded Archistroj Design Studio focusing on digital design, and adaptive urban systems.
